SNOWBIRDING IN ITALY!

​With fewer crowds, mild weather, rich local traditions, and significant cost savings, traveling to Italy in low season an opportunity you don't want to miss. What about “snowbirding” there? 
Imagine spending a few months during the long cold Canadian winter somewhere else where you don’t need heavy jackets and mittens? It’s not Mexico or the Caribbean, but if you are more interested in history and food rather than sandy beaches and palms, Italy is not a bad destination. No tour really is bad in Italy, particularly in the low season months.
 
Experience Italy in a way that’s relaxed, authentic, and full of hidden gems only the low season can offer. Whether it’s indulging in freshly squeezed olive oil in November, learn how to cook a Christmas traditional meal in December, taste wine or trying an aged cheese at a family run farm in January, or experiencing the vibrant Carnival in February. With blossoms and fields of flowers in March, in the low season, Italy promises countless unique opportunities.
You could have one base and visit different regions by train. Also, if you are not far from an airport, with short flights, easily reach for other European countries for the weekend! You can't have experiences like that when you go "south"! Unless is South Italy! 
We can plan your winter in Italy finding a place for you to stay, and organize tours and activities while you are there. Also giving you ideas of what you could do while there. If you are able to stay for a couple of months or more, you could change the home base in a different region, so you can visit different places and have different experiences.
 
December in Italy
December brings the holiday season, especially vibrant in the South regions like Sicily, Puglia, around the Bay of Naples and the Amalfi Coast.
During this month, there's all the Christmas traditions coming up, with beautiful decorations, Christmas Markets (famous in the north are those in South Tyrol) and local customs to enjoy.
 
January in Italy
January is ideal for looking to get a unique look at local culture with few other travelers in destination.
It's the quietest month of the year, perfect for visiting places like Venice, enjoy a thick Italian hot chocolate at one of the historic cafes on St. Mark's Square.
If you like winter sports, most of the regions have ski resorts with sunny slopes, beautiful scenery and activities for all levels. You could go for the weekend or spend a week in places on the Dolomites, if you are in the north, or on the Apennines if you are in the south.
 
February in Italy
February offers the charm of almond blossoms in Sicily and the excitement of Carnival in every region. You can make it a day trip from where you are staying.
The most famous Carnival venues are Venice, Viareggio in Tuscany and Putignano in Puglia. 
 
March in Italy
March heralds the arrival of spring, making it an ideal month for locations especially in the south of the country. But even in places like Florence and the Tuscany region, the spring truly brings out its beauty, it's a perfect time for scenic walks and enjoying the blossoming gardens and countryside. Places like Como Lake or Garda, where the snowy peaks are the background to beautiful gardens in a sunny mild day.
